Boston Properties Makes Donation To Childhelp USA

BOSTON, MA, September 22, 1999- Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE:BXP), a real estate investment trust, announced today that its Washington, DC Regional Office has made a $10,000 donation to the Virginia office of Childhelp USA, a national organization dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Boston Properties has earmarked the entire donation for the benefit of the Village of Childhelp East, a 52- bed residential treatment facility for abused children, located in Culpepper County, Virginia. The funds will be used to help build a new Learning Center, which will include classrooms, therapist offices, an art studio and computer lab, all of which complement the intensive personalized therapy Childhelp provides for Virginia's most severely disturbed victims of child abuse.

Mitch Norville, Boston Properties' Senior Vice President and Operations Manager of the Washington, DC office, said, "Boston Properties is pleased to be able to make a donation for the construction of the Learning Center, which will enable Childhelp USA to further enhance their programs for the treatment and prevention of child abuse."

Michael Caplin, Childhelp USA's Director of Eastern Operations, stated, "With this generous donation from Boston Properties, we are now able to proceed with the design and construction of the Learning Center so that it will open on schedule at the beginning of the next school year."

Childhelp USA is a 40-year old national charity dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse. It operates the National Child Abuse Hotline, at 1-800-4-A-Child, that provides free 24-hour abuse crisis counseling and referral services in several languages and in every state. Childhelp also provides residential treatment and foster care for victims of severe abuse; assessment services and therapy for suspected victims of abuse; and an array of abuse prevention programs for teens, parents, and adults who work with children.
